Our nonprofit organization, Armed Forces and Military Veterans Appreciation Inc. (AFMVA) was established in 2014 to carry out a mission of support and assistance. Our goal is to provide help in the areas of: job connection, education, relocation, and transition from active duty to
civilian life; working through our North Las Vegas Veterans Community Commission.
Meet Our Team
Councilman Cherchio and his wife, Gloria moved to North Las Vegas in 2001 and planned a quiet retirement. After 9/11, Councilman Cherchio wanted to place an American flag on his property but struggled to receive approval. That episode launched Councilman Cherchio’s public service career, as his efforts to bring neighbors together turned into a general concern due to the growth of the community.
As a resident of the Las Vegas Valley since 1990, Jane has built a reputation as a top producing Real Estate Agent and Community Leader. A graduate of Leadership Henderson and the Nevada Association of Realtors Leadership program, Jane serves on several Boards, Committees and as President of the Architectural Decorative Arts Society (ADAS). Jane's is the daughter the late James M. Armstrong who served in the Navy in WWII and the proud Aunt of Jeanette Traver who serves in the US Army.
Laura Coleman is an accomplished local business owner and volunteers within the community. Laura is very active at the Boys Club of North Las Vegas where she hosts a monthly birthday celebration for children. Laura also volunteers with the Nathan Adelson Hospice, where she chairs the annual wine tasting fundraising event.
